Terraza superior de la prisión del Castel Sant'Angelo. Amanece sobre Roma. Se oye el canto de un pastor y luego las campanas de las iglesias de la ciudad.

Cavaradossi será fusilado en ese lugar y le queda una hora de vida. Es entregado al carcelero, y con el consentimiento de éste, se decide a escribir un último adiós a su amada, a quien rememora con poéticas y sentidas palabras, mientras da rienda suelta a sus sentimientos con respecto a la vida y la muerte.

Third act
Top terrace of the prison of the Castel Sant'Angelo. It dawns on Rome. The singing of a shepherd is heard and then the bells of the churches of the city.

Cavaradossi will be shot in this place and he still has an hour of life. It belongs dedicated to the jailer, and with the assent of this one, decides to write a last good-bye to his dear one, whom he recalls with poetical and felt words, while it gives free rein to his feelings with regard to the life and the death.
