To build the USS Gerald Ford Supercarrier, the US Navy had to stop work on over 9,000 other items, and it still wasn’t enough. The carrier is simply too large, complex, and at $13 billion, too expensive for even the US to develop without hiccups. But despite that, the carrier was already the most powerful carrier in the world before it was completed and so the US was ready to deploy an unfinished Supercarrier out to sea in one of the most unusual deployments in history.
