टाइफाइड बुखार एक संक्रमण है जो साल्मोनेला टायफी के कारण होता है, आमतौर पर दूषित भोजन या पानी के अंतर्ग्रहण के माध्यम से। W.H.O. द्वारा हाल के अनुमानों के अनुसार, दुनिया भर में लगभग 2 करोड़ मामले और 128,000 से 161,000 टायफाइड से संबंधित मौतें सालाना होती हैं।
भारत में, 2017 में स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय द्वारा रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, टाइफाइड के 2221190 मामले थे और इसके कारण 493 लोग मारे गए थे।
खराब स्वच्छता और सुरक्षित पेयजल की कमी वाले स्थानों में टाइफाइड बुखार आम है। सुरक्षित पानी और पर्याप्त स्वच्छता तक पहुंच, खाद्य हैंडलर और टाइफाइड टीकाकरण के बीच स्वच्छता टायफाइड बुखार को रोकने में सभी प्रभावी हैं। उपयोग के लिए तीन टाइफाइड वैक्सीन टीके उपलब्ध हैं।

Typhoid fever is a systemic infection caused by Salmonella Typhi, usually through ingestion of contaminated food or water. According to the most recent estimates by W.H.O. about 20 million cases and 128000 to 161000 Typhoid related deaths occur annually worldwide.
In India, as per report by Ministry of Health in 2017, there were 2221190 cases of Typhoid and 493 people died due to it.
Typhoid fever is common in places with poor sanitation and a lack of safe drinking water. Access to safe water and adequate sanitation, hygiene among food handlers and typhoid vaccination are all effective in preventing typhoid fever. Three typhoid vaccines are currently recommended for use.
