ATOMIC MASS UNIT OR amu / CALCULATION OF ATOMIC MASS UNIT IN GRAMS / AVERAGE ATOMIC MASS / UNIFIED MASS UNIT
I found in many books that the value of amu or u has not been calculated completely rather only the value has been written. So I thought of explaining the detail calculation steps for better understanding and also students can get an idea of the difference between gram and amu, which generally they asked me. with example also I explained this term.
I am showing the calculation of one atom of C-12 isotope, which is used in this video as below.
From the concept of mole, it has been known that 12 g of carbon (C-12) contains Avogadro’s number of atoms or 6.0228 x10^23 atoms
. So the mass of one atom of
C-12 would be 12/(6.0228 x10^23) g
Apart from these, I too explained Gram Atomic Mass of an element with an example.
These are useful for the students of class 9th to 11th.
