Sivaji Ganesan works for a civil contractor. Padmini is a construction worker. Sivaji loves Padmini and marries her. He also takes care of Padmini's mother and younger brother. Sivaji's brother and Padmini's brother also live in their house. M.N.Rajam, daughter of a civil contractor likes S.S.Rajendran. Sivaji and Padmini prefer S.S.Rajendran's marriage with M.N.Rajam. But Sivaji's brother also aspires for Rajam. Padmini requests Rajam to forget S.S.Rajendran and marry Sivaji's brother but Rajam declines it. Meanwhile Sivaji gives shelter to his father's mistress and her daughter. They create problems in the family through their evil plans. Circumstances lead to S.S.Rajendran's arrest.
