F/A-18C Aircraft Carrier Launch-GoPro falls off at cat shot :(

An F/A-18C pilot taxis to catapult 4 on the flight deck of the USS Carl Vinson. The taxi directors ("yellow shirts") guide him to the catapult. Prior to making it to the catapult, you can see the "spread wings" signal given by the yellow shirt near the deck edge. The wings spread and as the preceding aircraft is launched, the jet is taxied into the catapult. From here, the "Shooter" (in a yellow shirt and khaki pants) takes over the jet and commands the run up signal by waving two fingers in the air. The pilot advances the power, checks the flight controls, and when satisfied, gives a sharp salute to the Shooter to signal "ready for launch."
Unfortunately, the high transverse G-Forces of the catapult overwhelm the GoPro connection to the helmet and causes the camera to fall off. The camera is recovered shortly after launch, but this goes to show just how powerful these catapults are!
