AI Applications in Mining
The Talk
The mining industry is increasing its use of AI to optimize processes, enhance decision-making, derive value from data, and improve safety. While there are many benefits to its implementation, it is still very new and there is a lot of work that needs to go into successful application. Planning, research, communication, and change management are all essential foundations for implementation. Industry collaboration is essential in order to communicate the advantages of AI, as well as to establish best practices for moving forward with AI technology.
The Speaker
Dr. Ali Soofastaei is an artificial intelligence (AI) scientist and an industrial global project leader. He leads innovative industrial projects in the field of AI applications to improve safety, productivity, and energy efficiency, and to reduce maintenance costs. He completed his PhD. at The University of Queensland in the field of AI applications in mining engineering. In the past 15 years, he has conducted a variety of research studies in academic and industrial environments. He has been involved in industrial research and development projects in several industries including oil and gas, steel and mining.
