This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. "Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication" In spite of all the advances made in technology there is still significantly little information about cancer metastasis. Hear research discussing this issue and the processes taken to simplify complex issues.
Smitha Rao received her B.E. degree in telecommunication engineering from Bangalore University, Bangalore, India, in 2000, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington, in 2004 and 2009, respectively. She is currently a Research Associate with the Department of Electrical Engineering at UT Arlington. She has published 60 papers in peer-review journals and conferences and co-authored one book chapter. Dr. Rao is a co-inventor of two US pending patents. She is on the editorial board of Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Local, national and international media have extensively covered her work on MEMS energy harvesting devices including Washington Post, Wired magazine and TIME. Her research interests include MEMS, nanotechnology, implantable devices, sensors, microfluidics, cancer research and lab-on-chip applications.
