I demanded $4 million to settle your case.
I knew your case had a true value of $1 million.
The defense told me they wanted to negotiate.

The defense told me they thought the case should be settled.
I invited them to start negotiating and make a serious offer.
After a few days, they came back to me all excited.

The defense attorney told me he thinks the case should be settled and he has significant money to offer.

I got right to it.
"How much do you have?" I asked.
"I have $100,000," he said confidently.

I almost laughed.
"Against a demand of $4 million? You must be kidding! That's not a serious offer," I said.
"Well, we think your client's injuries are not that bad. Maybe a worth a little more than $100,000 but not much," he replies.
"Thank you, but no. You're not even in the same ballpark," I tell him.

"Since you're not serious about trying to settle this case, we'll let a jury put a number on this case. Then you'll see this case is worth much more," I tell him.
