Art Documentary - Veron Ennis presents her new series Chroma-Tone

Veron Ennis' newest series- Chroma-Tone- concerns the intimate characteristics of the layered painted medium- following the loose structure of an ephemeral grid; the effects of text as form, sound, and meaning; the language of color; and the interplay between precision and chance application. Her Neo-Painterly Geometrist approach combines many schools of art from the Ab-Ex era coupled with a new look at the mastery of composition.

This series also has a blanketing theory addressing text-in-art. Hence the name of the series: Chroma- the intensity of a distinctive hue, and Tone- the quality or character of a sound considered with reference to a source, are the overall concerns of this series. The meticulously formulated palette in this series synchs with the carefully chosen typography to create a particular tone for each painting. The work creates a phonetic sound when viewed and "read" which echoes in the mind while the image is interpreted, leaving the impression of not only image- created by color and form, but also sound, created by text.
