When I was little, I heard this on the radio and loved it. YouTube was just coming out and I found the music video and absolutely loved it. I still love the music video to this day (especially the "what do you wanna do with your life" part of it). I even arranged the song for my college's marching band for us to play a couple years ago, in addition to playing this live with my band a couple times.

So, live, Mark "The Animal" Mendoza plays in the verse his straight 8th notes, pedaling on the E and the B with his signature style of of plucking for those parts. That's not what's on the studio version, but he does play the riff for the song in parts of it, like during the 2nd half of the chorus.

you can see mark mendoza for most of the video, but it's different than the studio version.

In the remastered "big Hits and nasty cuts" version, it's a little easier to hear the bass.
Overall the main riff is the same, but Mark plays it different live.
I'm trying out a new concept of trying to be right, but not be too nit-picky about every little detail where it detracts from the tab/cover and affects learning the song.
So, I'm not going to get worked up on the super small details that you have to strain to hear on the recording, but rather focus on the piece/song as a whole.
