Me for NF, Marshall Superbass 1972 (bought used after I got my 76 stolen in the early days after we had just moved form Jonquiere to Montreal in 1986-87) with preamp mod so I didn't need the power soak anymore. The cab was custom design with 4 - 15inch  EV 300 watts each 16 ohms. Mic was a 421 direct into a 1081 and an active DI line going into a tubeworks 902 from realtube to a ISA 110 for the clean low end tone. I used my first Liberatore a 1986 with two Dimarzio P bass pickup, one neck the other bridge, depending on the track I could switch each pickup with mini toggle switches with of course a Kahler tremolo bridge with rearward saddles which I didn't used much just to end track sometime. This was my first straight through neck bass, it was almost build right away the first time I met Mauro, I asked him if he could build for me a bass with my own design, I had brought him my current bass at the time which had a cheap neck screwed, one of those that Piggy's dad got cut for us. At first, his dad made piece of wood with great ash which Piggy ask of his own specifics, so we could draw our shape designs directly on them, after he would cut the shape for us back at the shop. Piggy got his flying-V shape one and me that same one for my 86 Liberatore. My first bass was a white El Degas precision copy still in great shape today, a friend of mine has it.  

The five strings 1989 came after NF was recorded. On the five string (Angel Rat) I have two active EMG J model on 18v, no pre-amp, just two toggle switch on-off.

My first Marshall Super Bass 1976 that I bought even before Voivod really start in 83, got stolen in 86 with Piggy's old Marshall as well. That's the one that I used with the power soak that melted (because I was putting it side ways, the soldering were falling off one day, that was funny, I was of course able to soldered it back in place) I also had to have a fan on all the time, so I made a hole on the side and put in a 120v 5in fan, because the thermal protection would just got off all the time. Some basic maintenance was often required. Like putting new resistors on the tube sockets, they would just fried.
