Minimum Wage In Nigeria How Realistic Is NLC's Demand For N615,000

High cost of living in Nigeria is affecting the purchasing power of many in the country.

With inflation at over 30%, organised labour is asking for a minimum wage of 615,000 naira, a staggering one thousand, nine hundred and fifty percent increase from the current 30,000 naira peg.

However, the Federal government says it can only afford N48,000,a proposal rejected by labour unions who have threatened to down tools and declare a nationwide strike if discussions on the issue are not concluded by May 31, 2024.
