A Walk in the Park by Jodi Reeb

This video is a preview of the paintings I will be showing in my solo show "A Walk in the Park" at Silverwood Park in Minneapolis October 8 - November 30th, 2020.
The Opening reception is Thursday, October 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.For more information: jodireeb.com=It's a series of mixed-media paintings using photograph collages are of pollinator-friendly plants and landscapes taken “from the bee’s perspective”.
The images are printed on tissue paper and combined with encaustic paint, consisting of molten beeswax, resin and pigment.

“Working with beeswax as my primary painting medium has me very concerned about the recent decline of the pollinator population. Modern encaustic is primarily composed of 85% natural wax, produced by honeybees. There are over 400 species of native bees and pollinators which are declining at alarming rates due to lack of habitat and pesticide use.”
