Spa Francorchamps Onboard a Radical SR3 RSX with Scott Mansell (Pole Position)
An onboard lap of Spa-Francorchamps in a Radical SR3 RSX with Scott Mansell.
Other than 20 minutes testing, it was the first time Scott had driven this particular Radical. He managed to put the car on pole position ahead a strong Radical Euro Masters field of SR3s with a lap time of 2:23.46 - over 1.5 seconds clear of his nearest competitor.
Mansell went on to win all three races at Spa-Francorchamps that weekend, taking two fastest laps along the way and eventually winning the championship by one point at Brands Hatch the following weekend.
For the track drivers watching, take note of the subtle rotation of the car into most corners - a combination of a good set up and manipulation of the car. This is what we're looking for when driving on circuit, just a little rotation on corner entry, whilst carrying maximum speed.
Scott makes a small mistake into Copenhague (previously corner with no name) which costs him a tenth of a second or so, but other the turn-in oversteer it's a clean lap.
