1993 (Veternal Vocalist/Entertainer Shirley Bassey appears on the Des O'Connor Show. She first performs a 'Big Band' arrangement of one of Andrew Lloyd Webber's songs, 'Starlight Express' then is interviewed by talk UK show host, Des O'Connor. Then, Shirley performs another song, 'As If We Never Said Goodbye' from the Andrew Lloyd Webber Musical, 'Sunset Boulevard'.

ABOUT Starlight Express, The Musical:
Starlight Express is a rock musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber (music), Richard Stilgoe (lyrics) and Arlene Phillips (choreography), with later revisions by Don Black (lyrics) and David Yazbek (music and lyrics for the 2nd US tour). The story follows a child's dream in which his toy train set comes to life; famously the actors perform wearing roller skates. It is one of the longest running musicals in West End history with 7,461 performances, but the Broadway production only ran for 761 performances. It is the most popular musical show in Germany. A new production will tour the UK in 2012, produced by Bill Kenwright Productions

ABOUT Sunset Boulevard, The Musical:
Sunset Boulevard is a musical with book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton and music by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Based on the 1950 film of the same title, the plot revolves around Norma Desmond, a faded star of the silent screen era, living in the past in her decaying mansion on the fabled Los Angeles street. When young screenwriter Joe Gillis accidentally crosses her path, she sees in him an opportunity to make her comeback to the big screen. Romance and tragedy follow.

Opening first in London in 1993, the musical has had several long runs internationally and also enjoyed extensive tours, although the show, which has been the subject of several legal battles, lost money because of its extraordinary running costs.
