Using PICkit 4 to program 8-bit microcontrollers (PIC16F88 and PIC16F84a)
The PICKIT 4 will destroy older microcontrollers unless you follow the instructions in this video. Having contacted Microchip, they replied "...we are adding documentation to the next MPLAB X release."
