2023: Clothes and shoes for girls basketball Team Florença in Santa Maria, Sal, Cape Verde – EUR 2,000

In August 2022, Team Florença was founded in Santa Maria, Ilha do Sal in Cape Verde. The team offers young girls (15 – 18 years old) an opportunity to practice their favourite sport and support each other. The training keeps the ladies from the street in the evenings and brings regularity into their lives. This minimizes the risk of teenage pregnancy and of alcohol and drug use. They have a better chance to complete their studies and have a good future when they team up in sports.

Now 20 girls have registered and participate in the training. In friendly matches against the other teams at Ilha do Sal and competitions the girls also learn to stand up for themselves. Foundation de Boomgaard kitted them out with T-shirts, shorts and sports shoes. This really motivated them and made them very proud of themselves and their team.
