High Voltage Electrode Schlieren Experiment.avi

Another high voltage experiment to examine the airflow around a high voltage electrode using Schlieren photography. The airflow is obviously hot and flowing up when there is an arc but what I think is interesting is the airflow between the arcing.
There is a 'ring' of air flowing off the high voltage needle before the sharp point. As the lower ground electrode is brought up closer, the airflow is in a stream between the two. There is also a lot of flow down toward the larger and rounded ground electrode when there is no arcing.
