Advanced Engineering Building auditorium roof lifting

Shot throughout 6 months of construction, and using over 50,000 photographs, this short film documents the construction of the roof of the new auditorium being constructed in the Advanced Engineering Building at the University of Queensland. Designed by joint venture partners, HASSELL and Richard Kirk Architect, the Advanced Engineering Building is due for completion in the first quarter of 2013.

Facts:
_The Auditorium roof framing has a width of 28.3 metres and spans 25 metres
_It's constructed with mixed hardwood glue laminated beams bolted to steel plates
_The timber frame was preassembled off site and reconstructed on site
_The 240 tonne roof was lifted into position over two days
