Viofo A129 Pro Duo Bench Test initial setup before installing

Showing how to bench test the camera ... to verify it is working... before installing it in your car. A revision is that the power cord CAN be plugged into the GPS base (and not just into the camera side). I proved it on this camera when it got installed into the car. ... Missing in this version is how to turn on 'H265' mode - which is a compressed file format that will save around 20% of SD card space. To do that - assuming the car is running (and the camera is recording) .. first set the camera in 'pause' mode ... by pressing the REC button until the bottom left REC light starts to flash .. next press and hold down the MIC button until you see a 'SD card icon' appear on the left hand side of the screen. That indicates the camera is in H265 recording mode. Now press the REC button so the red REC light turns back on - indicating the camera is again recording.

If you remove the SD card to view the videos it is better to transfer the videos off the SD card to your computer hard disk (assuming you have available space) as viewing them directly off the SD card could result in choppiness.

Also missing is a suggestion to **turn the camera off** before inserting or removing the SD card to prevent damage to the SD card or the files on it.

If you do not have the HK3 hardwire kit - then when you unplug the camera from power - it will turn off and it is safe - with power removed - to remove and re-insert the SD card.

If you have the HK3 hardwire kit - first turn the car off -and the camera may go into parking mode if you have selected parking mode in the camera menu and if the car battery has enough voltage. You would see the camera is in parking mode by noting the 2 red lights being on at the bottom left and right hand corner of the camera.

If there are no red lights then the camera is not in parking mode (it is turned off) and it is safe to remove and reinsert the SD card.

If there are red lights - then to turn the camera off - press and hold down the button on the far left with 3 horizontal bars on it for about 4 seconds. The red lights at the bottom left and right hand corner should both turn off. You can now remove / re-insert the SD card. After re-inserting the SD card - you can turn the camera back on into parking mode by again pressing the button on the far left with the 3 horizontal bars on it. The camera will come up and both red lights at the bottom left and right corner will come on (assuming you set the camera to parking mode - and that the car battery has sufficient voltage).
