1987-1993 Ford Mustang Coupe FMVSS 301 Rear Crash Test (50% Overlap / 50 Mph)

A 50 Mph (80 Km/h), 50% overlap rear crash test on the right rear. (Side of fuel filler neck.). The barrier weighs 1360 kg. (About 3000 lbs.) An early research test for a more stringent FMVSS 301 standard. This crash test was performed on 11/13/1995 at TRC Ohio.

Immediately after impact, fuel leakage occurred. The first five minute following impact, approximately 971 grams (34.4 oz) of fuel leaked from the fuel system. The point of failure was separation of the filler neck from the fuel tank.
