Can you imagine playing hockey during wartime?

Our brave Canadian soldiers played hockey on the frozen ‘Imjin’ River whenever they were given time away from their front-line duties.

Now, more than six decades later, we are pleased to hold a re-enactment of these historic hockey matches! The event took place at TD PLACE at Lansdowne in Ottawa on Saturday, October 26 at 2 PM.

Two Regiments, PPCLI and R22eR, went head-to-head with each other – just as they would have done during the Korean War!

The Imjin Hockey Classic 2019 is an event organized by the Canadian Army and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Canada, as a way to honour Canadian war veterans and the importance of Canadian's contribution to the Korean War, by re-enacting a hockey game played by Canadian soldiers on the frozen ‘Imjin’ River.
