Why We Might Cure Cancer Sooner Than You Think | Damla Gundogdu | TEDxYouth@ASD

In a fast-paced, highly informational talk, Damla Gundogdu, a Junior at the American School of Dubai, introduces and explores the viability of new cancer treatments that aim to tackle the disease through somatic gene therapy. She evaluates these treatments’ merits as well as the common skepticism that surrounds these bleeding-edge discoveries, ultimately presenting a smartly-reached conclusion on the feasibility and potential implementation of gene therapy methods. Damla Gundogdu has been living in Dubai since 2009 and is in her first year at ASD. Although she doesn't posses the "three season athlete grind," she does play tennis and enjoys topics regarding biology and psychology.

She will be talking about somatic gene therapy in the treatment of cancer, and will evaluate the benefits and disadvantages of somatic gene therapy as well as its approval by the FDA in late 2017.
