Cella wants to iron Isabel's ball dress, as she has been told, but Bernarda prevents it and iron by her own. Isabel prepares herself for the great ball in Salinas' residence. She puts on the accessories - ear rings, the necklace and the wrist band. During that, Cella comes in with prepared dress and Isabel inofrms her, she will be her maid in Salinas' residence. On the ball, the high society is present and all are waiting for Isabel to come. All want to meet future wife of Fernando Salinas. Isabel finally arrives and all the ball participants are amazed. Bernarda watches Isabel from front door, but she is treated like unwanted guest and therefore she leaves. Fernando presents Isabel to all important persons - Teresa, Art Wilson, doctor Villa and his wife, to doctor Leonardo, aunt Gabriela and finally, to Ms. Barnett. Only one person is not amazed by Isabel, it is aunt Gabriela, she feels, that Isabel is hiding something. Bernarda, eating soup, tells Cella in ktichen in Guerrero's residence, how the great ball started, how Isabel entered the Salinas' residence. Junajo tries to get him in the great ball, but Teresa stops him and sends him away into rooms of employees pavilion, near the Salinas' residence. Teresa helps Juanjo to accomodate in the room of empolyees pavilion. Then she returns in the great ball. The ball comes into end and Fernando accompanies Isabel home, where he tries to spend whole night with Isabel in her room. His (and Isabel's) plans are ruined, when Bernarda interrupts them. Undressed Isabel in her room starts to argue with Bernarda, if she can('t) interfere in her life. Bernarda worries about Isabel's virginity. Bernarda, in her room now, remebers herself about love affair with Corrado. Juanjo in the employee pavilion room wakes up, Teresa comes in with something to eat for him. Bernarda helps Isabel with clothes and shoes, which she wants to wear. They start to talk and Isabel warns Bernarda, that she hasn't granted any place or space in her life as default. Bernarda replies, she will be always near Isabel, no matter what.
