Teaching English without a degree in Vietnam is a hot topic and a bit debatable right now.
Locals feel that they go to a university, study for countless years, spend lots of money, graduate with honors, and they are paid less than foreigners who simply arrive in Vietnam and want to teach without any prior education or experience. I completely see both sides of the argument. It's frustrating, for sure. And I don't really want to get involved in this debate.
As a foreigner who came to Vietnam and taught English without any experience, I will say that we still can add value to the lives of many. Example: my parents taught me my first language...and they didn't have any prior teaching experience. Foreigners can provide the same type of value.
