Exclusive Tour of teamlab Planets Tokyo. Digital Art Museum in Odaiba

Want your mind blown? I explore a digital art museum in Japan called teamLab Planets: Tokyo. It's one of the most awe inspiring exhibits I have ever seen.

This is what it's called in Japanese: チームラボ プラネッツ

This made life 100% better when I was traveling there: https://lifeofl.in/umbrella

There are several exhibits by teamLabs in Japan as well as all over the world - they all focus on interactive art exhibits that delight and dazzle all of the human senses.

*How do I buy tickets for teamLab Planet tickets?*

You can purchase the tickets online or on the machine there. If you are going on a popular day, like a weekend, I would suggest buying your tickets in advance. The tickets are 3,200 yen for regular and 4,200 yen for priority.

*What other exhibits does TeamLabs have in Tokyo?*

There's two in Tokyo and one is a lot bigger than the other. I didn't get a chance to go to the bigger one called More Building Digital Art Museum: TeamLab Borderless because the tickets were all sold out. The reviews for the smaller one are just as good and some even said it was better because it is more interactive. Let me know your opinions in the comments below if you've been to any of the Teamlab exhibits.

*Important Rules for teamLabs: Planets*

You'll have to remove your shoes and socks and place all your belongings in a locker. You'll need to fold your pants all the way up to your knees to prevent your pants from getting wet. Don't wear tight pants that you can't fold up. Also for ladies don't wear dresses because during an exhibit there is a mirror right under you so you'll end up exposing your underwear to everyone.

*teamLabs: Planets exhibits*

1) Light shines down and gives you a heaven like image of glowing water. It almost looks like a river of light.

2) This exhibit looks like it’s made out of a bunch of pillows, but it’s actually an art piece that shows how we all influence each other.

3) There are millions of dots which light up in different colors in order to create a series of pictures in 3D space. This is interactive because you choose a design and “fling” it into the art installation to display it.

4) It’s almost like the water is a canvas for a painting. The koi fish are so cool and it took me a moment to realize that they swim around you! If the koi fish bump into something, they explode into a ring of flowers.

5) The character means “life” and it slowly morphs into an image of a tree. It’s beautiful to see it transfer into various interpretations of the word “life.” This “3d calligraphy” is similar to the flower arrangements that you see in traditional Japanese homes.

6) There are giant beach ball looking things that float in the room, and they change color as you touch or bump into them. The cool thing is that each ball of light “infects” the other ball of light, so they all behave almost like a virus instead of individual balls.

7) This exhibit is called 'floating in the falling universe of flowers.’ Most people lie down on the floor and look up upon the ceiling. It shows constantly changing flowers flying through space as they sprout, grow and then die over time. This represents a cycle of birth and death without end and it’s randomly generated so it never looks the same.
