Biden’s comments on fracking and the oil industry a ‘disaster’ for Democrats

New York Post columnist Miranda Devine says Democratic Presidential nominee Joe Biden “made a big mistake at the debate” when he said he wanted to transition away from the oil industry to a greener energy source.

“To say that he wants to get rid of fracking and the oil industry is a disaster for him,” she told Sky News.

Ms Devine pointed out a number of battleground states in the Rust Belt would not react positively to Mr Biden’s comments which were “all about climate change and the Green New Deal”.

“Donald Trump is banking on the economy and his previous success with that as pulling people over the line because people care more about their pocketbooks than they do about COVID-19”.

In contrast, Ms Devine said Joe Biden is banking on COVID-19 as his primary campaign issue and the rise in case numbers would play in his favour.

However, she highlighted a recent report by the CDC that revealed flu cases were down 95 per cent.

“That leads people to think flu that is being conflated with the COVID-19 diagnosis," she said.
