Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX) is a mid sized Biotech company, currently valued at around $48 billion dollars. Unlike a lot of other Biotech companies, Vertex generated around $6.2 billion dollars in Revenue, $2.7 billion dollars in Profits, and around $3 billion dollars in FCF for FY 2020 which is amazing! The company has been growing those numbers steadily since 2017. On top of that, Vertex has some exciting drugs in their pipeline: for example, CTX-001 for treating Sickle Cell disease and Beta-thelasemmia. The current valuations looks attractive compared to broader market valuations! Current PE ratio is 17.9 (with a forward PE of 16.5), and P/FCF is sitting at around 16! One of the greatest risks is their revenue concentrations, as 100% of their revenues are coming from Cystic Fibrosis (CF) drugs. However, their main drug Trikafta is protected in USA and in Europe until 2037 with Patent protections! Hopefully this drug will generate cash flows until then and the company will come up with some exciting new drugs in the next 3-5 years!
