How to Build a Desk Top | DIY Table Top

This video provided step-by-step instructions on how you can make your own DIY oak desktop with pocket hole screws and biscuits. We purchased some reclaimed white oak from Raleigh Reclaimed. We needed to square it up and true up the edges on the joiner (but you can use a table saw if you don't have access to a joiner). Once the edges were square and we determined which side was top, we then cut biscuits with the biscuit joiner to make the desktop boards even. Next, we glue them up and clamp them and screw them together with Kreg pocket hole jig and pocket holes. When it is all glued and screwed, we square it up at 26: x 60" (just what the customer wanted for his stand-up desk. We then sand some more finally with some 220 grit sandpaper. We wipe the dust off with some tack cloth and apply two coats of Watco Teak Oil and buff in between coats because the customer is going to take pictures on the desktop and needed a matte finish.
