Federal budget an ‘unenviable task’: ANZ CEO

ANZ's Chief Executive Shayne Elliott has called the federal budget is an “unenviable task.”

Treasurer Jim Chalmers is set to deliver his federal budget this week and hopes to strike a careful balance between controlling inflation and providing cost of living relief.

“This is no different to a household,” Mr Elliott told Sky News Australia.

“We’ve got cost-of-living pressures, we want to be able to spend more, to protect the family and do all the right things for the future and get the balance right.

“This is why it’s hard, this is why there needs to be an enormous amount of thought out into the intended consequences of all of this, but also the unintended consequences of all of this.”
