Hammond Clones - Which one? Hardware? Software?....

Here is a demo of FIVE different Hammond Clones:

In order of age (oldest first):

Roland VK-7 (1999) - Mega bit of kit, with physical features of the Hammond.

Nord Electro Rack (2004) - immense sound and being a rack unit, very convenient.

The above two can be had second hand for a very good price!

EVB3 (2004) - the software Hammond clone that comes with Logic Pro. There's a reason it's still included with Logic 14 years later...

Native Instruments B4 (2006) - a very impressive plug in, with a good user interface and MIDI implementation

And last, but not least (in fact, it keeps up with the others!)

GarageBand iOS (2017). This is an amazing sound for the money (actually, it's free!), and has all the features you'd need without too much hassle. Check it out!

As you can hear from this demo, it's not really worth losing too much sleep over any of these. Playing a real Hammond is a completely different experience, and you can see my demo of the D-100 and Leslie 147 here:
