NEW for 2021: IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 | aBlogtoWatch
Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch reviews the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 (Ref. IWC388101 as shown here). New for 2021, this watch receives a blue-dialed treatment reminiscent of the brand’s own “Le Petit Prince” Pilot Chronograph, albeit with a more svelte 41mm-wide stainless steel case (a green-dialed variant is also available, Ref. IWC338103/104). However, inside is a new in-house made IWC caliber 69385 automatic movement, versus the IWC caliber 79320 used in the 43mm chronographs which are based upon a Swiss Made Valjoux 7750. This change manifests itself in a subtle change in subdial placement wherein the running subsidiary seconds hand is now located just above the 6 o’clock position, compared to the previous placement at 9 o’clock. The movement is also now viewable thanks to the open caseback design with sapphire crystal. Polished hands and hour markers adorn the dial, and the watch comes with a new quick-release system to allow for easy changes between a calfskin strap, rubber strap, or stainless steel five-link bracelet with micro-adjust. Pricing for the IWC Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 is $6500 USD on the strap and $7200 USD on the bracelet.
