A Career as a Corrections Probation Officer and Community Work Supervisor (JTJS62011)

Teresa meets DJ, a community work supervisor and joins him on the job where they will be supervising eight offenders who have been sentenced to community service.

The group will be working outdoors undertaking a range of tasks in a park area under the supervision of the community works supervisor. Teresa gives them the briefing and the group begin their tasks.

Community service projects are carried out in a number of environments from schools, reserves, marae, churches, wherever there is a community need. DJ tells Teresa it's important to be firm and fair, communicate well and be able to read situations. "At the end of the day, we're here to reduce their likelihood of re-offending," he says.
