Amtrak Derailment of Kingman, AZ 22 Years Later
This is the story about my personal favorite Amtrak train, the Southwest Chief, and its battle with a thunderstorm. At about 5:56 am outside Kingman, AZ the train derailed due to a flash flood destroying a bridge and tracks. The cause was both the flood and BNSF not taking proper measures to ensure trains were safe from flash floods.
