Sean Taylor's Most Savage Moments

The man, the myth, the legend. Sean f**king Taylor and his savage moments. Let me tell you about my history of discovering Sean Taylor...

I am a lifelong Washington Football Team fan. Started watching them around 1999, which has to be the worst luck possible considering that is when Dan Snyder (the now owner) bought the team. Since then it has been 90% pain, misery and embarrassment and 10% false hope.

So enter the 2003 NFL season. Steve Spurrier is the coach and by November you can already see the writing is on the wall and the Skins will be drafting early next year. So what does a die-hard Washington fan do in November knowing their team has no shot even though the season is only half over? Easy. Start looking at mock drafts for 2004 and get excited about who our team can draft since they will have an early pick (no, I'm not joking).

That was when I saw him. A freak of nature. The size of a linebacker and speed of a corner but he played safety. He took picks and fumbles to the house and moved towards the end zone with ease as if he were returning a kickoff or put. Oh yea, he took those to the house too. Who was this guy? He wore an orange visor that matched his iconic Miami Football jersey rocking the number 26.

Obviously I learned it was Sean Taylor and became obsessed with wanting the Skins to draft him. Thanks to Joe Gibbs and a little influence from Clinton Portis and Santana Moss, Washington selected him 5th overall in the 2004 draft. I was pumped.

This was one of the only times I can remember where a players hype was matched, if not exceeded when he went onto the pros. I began getting excited to watch Washington on DEFENSE! I followed his every move. He was fearless. In fact, sometimes came off as a little crazy. To gauge how "crazy" he was, there is a story that was released that took place in that first year with Washington.

It was rumored that some big time Miami drug dealers broke into Sean's home and stole his ATVs. How did Sean respond? By pulling up on one of the rumored suspects and demanding to know where the ATVs were. When he didn't get the answer he wanted, Taylor then pistol whipped the guy and rode off.

But how did the "drug dealers" respond? Well, later that night, they shot up one of Sean's cars. Thankfully, no one was in it but it was clear, Sean Taylor didn't care who you were, you weren't going to get over on him.

Having grown up and matured a little bit since that story was released, I learned that there are often repercussions of this dangerous behavior. Sean was arrested and placed on probation for the pistol whipping incident and because of that he could not own a firearm. That would ultimately cost him his life (but who is to say for sure) when Sean was awoken by 4 armed men in his Miami home in November of 2007.

Sean was in his bedroom with his girlfriend and recently born daughter and got up and grabbed a machete as he headed towards the door. You know what happened next. One of the intruders saw Sean "got scared" and fired the gun, which would cause injuries he would eventually die from on November 27, 2007.

So yes, Sean has done some savage things on and off the football field as you will see through this compilation video. But let me ask you this...Is there anything more savage than putting your life on the line to defend your girlfriend and baby daughter from armed intruders that are invading your home? Side note: I’ve got in arguments with people who claim it wasn’t Sean who laid the hit. I understand why they would think that Bc the camera man makes focused on #31 (Rock Cartwright) on one of the replays but if you keep watching the replays you will then see Cartwright is running down the field when #21 (Sean Taylor) comes and lays the block and hit.
