Helix Dumper first unloading trial at Northland in 2014

This video from 2014 shows the very first test-unloading of Kiruna Wagon's Helix Dumper, at Northland's Ore Terminal in Narvik in Norway.

After the initial commissioning phase, during which unloading tests were conducted at a slower speed, the system is now fully operational and the wagons are efficiently unloaded during continuous, rolling discharge. When emptying, the body of the wagon is rotated 148 degrees while the frame remains on the rails. The rotation, along with the round shape of the body creates optimal conditions for effective discharge.

The Helix Dumper has an unloading capacity of 25,000 tonnes per hour.
