Jesus, Prince of Peace

Over the past few years, we have endured multiple global crises: the Covid-19 pandemic, a mental health crisis, global supply chain issues, fuel shortages, financial crises, and large-scale regional wars. In many ways, it can feel as if we are living in a similar situation as those in Isaiah 9. When we look at the war, hatred, rage, murder, and indifference all around us, we feel that longing deep in our hearts for our Prince of Peace.

Read Isaiah 9:6 and take a moment to meditate on the four titles given to describe Christ: Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

How do the titles of Jesus inform our own lived experience? What do you think this prophecy would have meant to an Israelite during Isaiah's time? What does this mean for you?

Jesus comes to make all things new. May he do so even today.
