Graphene Oxide Enhanced Filtration

Heavy metal ions, caused by nearby industry, are a common and life threatening water pollutant.

This team of Nanotechnology Engineering students aims to provide cost effective, simple water treatment options to combat dangerous levels of heavy metals. They enhanced a conventional water filter with a nanoparticle suspension that adsorbs dangerous heavy metal ions. As part of a portable system, this filter overcomes the limitations of traditional filtration systems and makes contaminated water safe to drink.

Capstone Design Team Members: Felicia Abbruzzese, Zachary Gingras, and Gavin Wilson
