Voices from South Sudan

On July 9, 2011, the Republic of South Sudan officially declared its independence from Sudan. This video features testimony from three citizens of the world's newest country --individuals bearing witness to the atrocities they suffered and their hopes for the future. Independence comes after a two-decade-long civil war that resulted in more than 2 million deaths and another 4 million displaced in the south.
