Liquid Crystal Window (LCW) Technology: Smart, Transparent and Energy-saving

LCW modules are an aesthetic and functional high-quality technology for sun and glare protection as well as privacy applications – primarily for use in architecture. The sun protection variant can be realized in different light transmittance bandwidths and achieves energy savings of up to 40% in building climate control systems. For users, the windows offer maximum convenience since they offer continuously variable switching within seconds and are absolutely transparent and color-neutral in both switching states – two decisive advantages over competing technologies. The window façade on the west side of the company's modular Innovation Center in Darmstadt, Germany, shown in the video was fitted with the new LC windows in early 2015 as a pilot and is being received very positively. The materials are marketed under the brand Licrivision.
