Why you need to add social links or social media to Google My Business
Google calls these "Social profiles for local businesses"
Google uses them when evaluating the online authority of your business.

2 things are needed
1 Consistency. - Use the same name to represent your business in both your listing and your social profiles.
2 Authenticity. - verify your profile through the 3rd party social media software

So ultimately it will help your authority and authenticity/trust/rank
