Learn Latvian Language - Lesson 3 - Alphabet

Hi! Welcome to a Latvian Language learning video. Please know that these videos were originally created for a personal use and there might be minor mistakes in grammar or spelling. I am not a teacher. I am 100% Latvian, but... I do have a tiny bit of an accent due to living abroad over 15 years.

The Latvian alphabet consists of 33 letters: 24 consonants and 9 vowels.
Vowels - Latvian uses short and long vowels. The bar above the vowel sign indicates that the vowel is long.
Consonants - several consonants can be soft, which is indicated by a comma underneath or above the letter(ļ, ķ, ņ, ģ). To soften the consonant the middle of the tongue should approach the roof of the mouth.
