Lesson Objectives:
Auditory: adults /secondary school teachers
Subject: methodology
Theme: RAFT technique
Goal: this lesson plan is organized for secondary school teachers who came to retraining institutes in order to update pedagogical knowledge and share with their experiences.
● by the end of the session participants will able to use new technique RAFT in teaching reading and writing lessons
● by the end of the session participants will able to use new methods in teaching English
● by the end of the session participants will able to work on new software Google Classroom.
Warm-up and Objective Discussion:
● organize Hot Potato as a warm up activity and prepare participants to new theme.
● divide into several parts puzzles and mix them. Then distribute each part to all participants.
● tell to the participants that they should find their group with these parts and join their team.
● give some questions and tell to the participants the theme.
Instruct and Model:
● ask participants the meaning of abbreviation RAFT
● introduce new theme RAFT
● show example with new technique
Guided Practice:
● ask from the participants about their puzzles’ picture and tell that it is their team name
● tell to the participants that they should work with this fairytale or cartoon on puzzles.
● organize Google Classroom activity and share the link with participants
● ask participants to open Google Classroom
● ask them to find and read their fairytale
● tell to the participants that they should rewrite fairytale according to RAFT technique and present their work by making role playing or they can read it as a monologue.
Independent Practice:
● tell to the participants that each group should choose a cameraman for recording to a cellphone camera the role playing they are acting
● ask participants to save their written works and camera records for the next tasks
● ask groups to present their work and show role playing one by one
● organize Google Classroom activity
● tell to the participants that they should enter to Google Classroom with that link and post their written and recorded works there.
Assessment:
● tell to the participants that after lessons they should read and watch each other’s written and recorded works. Then they should choose the best work and write their reviews on Google Classroom software.
● tell that the work which will collect most reviews will be the winner.
