Introduction to Raspberry Pi Course for Beginners (Part 3) - Write Your First Raspberry Pi Program

Welcome back to the Raspberry Pi mini course! In Part 3 you'll learn to write your first program on a Raspberry Pi and control hardware with a simple LED circuit. This beginner‑friendly guide walks you through each step so you can gain confidence in Linux, Python and basic electronics.

**What you’ll learn**
• Set up your Raspberry Pi (we use a Pi 4 but any model works) and connect a monitor, keyboard and mouse.
• Open the Thonny Python editor or terminal.
• Wire an LED and resistor on a breadboard and connect it to the GPIO pins with jumper wires.
• Write a Python script to blink the LED, run it and modify the blink pattern.
• Troubleshoot common issues if your code doesn’t run or the LED doesn’t light.

**Parts list**
• Raspberry Pi board – choose your favorite Pi; we used the Pi 4.
• Solderless breadboard and jumper wires – available at [ShillehTek](https://shillehtek.com).
• LED and resistor kit – find assorted LEDs and resistors in [ShillehTek’s electronics kits](https://shillehtek.com).
• Power supply and HDMI or micro‑HDMI cable to connect your Pi.
