STRABAG - Construction of motorway and Viaduct Babine Rijeka (Zenica Bypass), Bosnia and Herzegovina

Construction of motorway on corridor Vc Section Donja Gračanica-Drivuša subsection Klopče-Donja Gračanica, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Viaduct Babine Rijeka.

Viaduct Babina Rijeka is the highest and one of the most demanding objects that is built on Corridor Vc motorway.

Project details:
• Left bridge in lenght of 389,28 m and
• Right bridge in lenght of 380,74 m
• End spans each 110 m long
• Middle span is 168 m
• Lower structure of each viaduct consists of 2 abutments and 2 piers
Heights of both left and right viaduct piers are 60 m and 78 m
• Superstructure is made of longitudinally prestressed box girder in width of 6,5 m and hight starting from 8,8 m on piers down to 4 m over abutments. Width of upper slab is 13,76 m.
• Weight of each of total 128 superstructure segments on both bridges made with balanced cantilever technology is from 194 t to 130 t plus 2 middle closing segments, 4 zero segments above piers and 4 abutments.
• Total concrete built-in for boath bridges is 26.600 m³
• 5.200 t of installed reinforcement
• 630,65 km of cables for prestressing
• On right bridge middle closing segment is built within precission of 8 mm and 3 mm on the left bridge.
• Viaduct Babina Rijeka crosses the valley from 10 m to 120 m' above ground level in horizontal radius of 987,60 m.

• All works on the construction of the viaduct except for prestressing works are being executed by STRABAG's own workers.
