There are more than 350 species of hummingbirds in the world! They are native to North, Central, and South America, but only a handful of hummingbird species live in the United States. Hummingbirds have unique flying abilities including the ability to hover, and are well adapted to consuming their favorite food: nectar from flowers! Hummingbirds build tiny nests and usually lay just two eggs.
