Secure your Microsoft OneDrive account right now with these quick settings and safety checks.

If someone gets access to your OneDrive, they can see your personal files, photos, backups, and even sensitive documents. Here’s how to lock it down properly.

Start by enabling Two-Step Verification on your Microsoft account. This is the most important protection.

Open your browser and go to Microsoft Account Security; the link is given in the video description.

Sign in with your Microsoft account.

Under Security basics, find advanced security options.

Tap on "Turn on two-step verification." See all active two-factor authenticators.

Scroll on the page and add another way to sign in to your account.

I am setting up two-factor for "Use an app".

follow the setup process using your phone number, email, or an authenticator app like Microsoft Authenticator

Next, create a strong password for your account.

Avoid using simple passwords like your name, birthday, or common words. Use a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Now the next step is to check recent sign-in activity.

On the same security page, expand the section "Account Security."

and click on "View my sign-in activity." and check all past login history if you activated it.

Review all recent logins and connected devices. If you see an unknown device or location, immediately select “Secure your account” and change your password.

Now, the next step is to review apps and devices connected to your OneDrive.

Open OneDrive Settings and check shared folders, linked PCs, and permissions.

Now, go to Profile at the top right corner and click on "My Microsoft account."

Click on "View all devices" next to the device section. Click on "Remove device" to remotely remove the account from the other's device. or remove old devices you no longer use.

On the security page in your microsoft account, under "File backup and security." Also make sure ransomware protection and file recovery are enabled if available in your plan.

For extra safety on Windows PCs:

Keep Windows Security turned on
Enable BitLocker device encryption if supported
Avoid downloading unknown files or cracked software
Keep Windows and OneDrive updated

If you use OneDrive on iPhone or Android, enable Face ID, Touch ID, or App Lock protection inside the app settings.

Finally, back up your recovery email and phone number so you can recover your account if you ever get locked out.
