I Tried the Same Portrait Indoors and Outdoors

This video was created in collaboration with Tether Tools.

Can a strong idea really survive a change of scene? I wanted to find out if one portrait concept could work just as well indoors and outdoors, so I grabbed my camera, my lighting gear, and a big red balloon 🎈

In the studio, taking control of the light is relatively simple, get rid of what you don’t need and add your own. On location? Not so easy! But that change in control is all part of the process that makes on location and in studio portraits so unique.

To keep things consistent I maintained the models styling and I tethered both sessions using the Tether Tools AeroTrac workstation. Tethering is the backbone of my workflow regardless of whether I’m in the studio or on location.
