Visiting Highclere Castle - The Real Downton Abbey

Highclere Castle is a country house in the Jacobethan style by the architect Charles Barry, with a park designed by Capability Brown. The 5,000-acre (2,000 ha) estate is in Hampshire, England, United Kingdom, about 5 miles (8 km) south of Newbury, Berkshire. It is the country seat of the Earl of Carnarvon, a branch of the Anglo-Welsh Herbert family.

The British television series Downton Abbey was filmed at Highclere Castle and created a legion of fans eager to see where their favorite fictional Edwardians lived. The series ended in 2015, but a feature film released in 2019 has kept interest high and kept thousands of visitors touring the Castle each year - a second film is scheduled to be released on 18 March 2022.
